Amarillo Symphony, Palo Duro Canyon

Hit Hooray for Hollywood:

It was beyond wonderful, Harry Potter, LOTR (I welled), Schlinders List where my heart pounded rather loud whilst watching the violinist tear up whilst performing.  All perfect.  I love going to see Amarillo Symphony, not only as there quite amazing but I just love to dress up.  One does not have too many excuses in everyday life to don a dress.

An one does love to..

This weekend we also met Daniel and went to Palo Duro Canyon, Texas.  Ended up walking/jogging over eleven miles, it was challenging but everything was so stunning, the weather weirdly warm so it all fitted snug as a silk glove.  I imagined all the pioneers who had passed that way, the Indians who had lived there for hundreds, neigh,  thousands of years.

Every minute I soaked up.

Andy and G took bikes and rode then I have to say, climbed some cliffs just a little to high.  Everyone we came across was so nice it was a pleasure to chat away, but not for long as I had many trails to trek.

The sad part is I had such a good time that no pictures were taken.  So we’ll just have to use our imigination.

Family, 5k

This weekend I ran a 5k with my son who has arrived here State Side for his wedding.  Goes without saying my Allum homies were there, as ever cheering me on.

Yes he did lap me, but then he came back to help me finish and I am so glad he did as I was seriously flagging.  It was incredibly cold and windy, plus the hills deeply displeased me.  But of course I did the one foot in front of the other dance.

An finished!

Went out for a lunch then a meal with them both and it was just wonderful.  Just a dream come true having one of the kids living here on the same continent as us.  G is absolutely over the moon having a sibling near again.  Plus she adores his betrothed.

Now no more words..

Today my heart sings

One of my two beautiful son’s, being son number two landed State Side last night.  To begin the next chapter of his life with his beloved.

An my heart truly sings for them both.

This morning  I asked G when was the last time we saw him? She replied Mum, it was only two days ago on facetime.  No….In real life, to touch and hug, Oh she says, over a year for sure.

Over a year.

Now, another wedding is on the horizon and I so adore big family get togethers..

Just Such Fun!

Maya Angelou

Here, February is Black History Month.  Which makes me think of one of my all time favorite Maya Angelou poems.

Phenomenal Women, how I yearn for the stride of your step, the curl of your lips an the swing of your hips..

Phenomenal Woman

Pretty women wonder where my secret lies.

I’m not cute or built to suit a fashion model’s size

But when I start to tell them,

They think I’m telling lies.

I say,

It’s in the reach of my arms,

The span of my hips,

The stride of my step,

The curl of my lips.

I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.
I walk into a room

Just as cool as you please,

And to a man,

The fellows stand or

Fall down on their knees.

Then they swarm around me,

A hive of honey bees.

I say,

It’s the fire in my eyes,

And the flash of my teeth,

The swing in my waist,

And the joy in my feet.

I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.
Men themselves have wondered

What they see in me.

They try so much

But they can’t touch

My inner mystery.

When I try to show them,

They say they still can’t see.

I say,

It’s in the arch of my back,

The sun of my smile,

The ride of my breasts,

The grace of my style.

I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.
Now you understand

Just why my head’s not bowed.

I don’t shout or jump about

Or have to talk real loud.

When you see me passing,

It ought to make you proud.

I say,

It’s in the click of my heels,

The bend of my hair,

the palm of my hand,

The need for my care.

’Cause I’m a woman

Phenomenal woman,

That’s me.

Stodgy an filling..

A mammoth sized unhealthy urge hit me today, I wanted food, really stodgy filling food.  I sat down to ponder this whilst telling myself women, keep that halo a-glowing.  Then a thought like lightening bolted into my head,

Sod it!

An with that, I decided to bake a traditional British Pudding.  Good old valve filling Bread an Butter. There are many unhealthy versions, I decided on this one.

Eating’s an art, when one does it, one just has to do it fabulously!

I hit nine miles…..YES!

Whilst jogging today I tried to focus on my arms.

Little had I realized they generally flayed over here then way over there, similar to a chilcken trying to fly.  Now no one had acutally been kind enough to point this out to me, EVER!  My beloved always said he knew it was me running from a mile away.  This I took as a compliment to our love but alas, was not, twas the arms which gave me away.

Jogging today, arms were pulled close into sides and being methodically moved.  Surprisingly they ended up in tempo with my feet.  Whilst doing all this my left arm was being slightly naughty, it desperatly wanted to move up and down like a chicken wing…ridiculous!

I was thinking this has to be genetic as it’s so, so unnatural.

By the nineth mile I felt there was some semblence of order in the arm department. Then I was home an literally crawling up our driveway.  As per usual, with a very seductive manner.

One cannot let one’s side down..

A Friday Coffee

This evening I partaked in a coffee with a very nice lady from down south.  We may of not looked quite as glamorous as the ladies in the picture below but I know we could of, with minimal effort.

Above you see throughly raucous behavior over a coffee and close friends which is right up my street or just my cup of tea…or I’m sorry to say…coffee!

Annoying watches and phones…Wilson Hurley.

Saturday just gone went and saw the above and it was just beyond beautiful.  My favorite was The Four Seasons, tears welled, especially in ‘Winter’ due to the many happy memories it triggered.

One thing I could not and will never understand was the row of young chaps sitting infront of us, all chatting and enjoying the magnificently played music.  All wearing the new apple watches on one wrist, in the other hand of course a tightly gripped apple phone never, NEVER to be let go,

They went from wrist to phone then back again, texting,  reading messages, posting on Facebook.

Seriously chaps, life is real, live it and I don’t mean glued to your teeny tiny screens!

Personally, I thought this utterly ridiculous, your at a concert watching an listening to beautiful music can you not be unconnected for an evening?  Are your messages and FB that important you need to check watch, then phone then watch and let’s face it, your looking at exactly the same info!

Am I showing my age?  Nope, I don’t think so, I just think it’s bloody sad that some people cannot even be an hour or so ‘unconnected’.

Call me slow, but fell across Wilson Hurley this evening, his paintings are stunning..

Killing time in Sydney airport.

Whilst so bored in Sydney airport I just had to take these pictures…

I am extremely tempted.  I’m thinking a tight, youthful face could be a possibility if I’m brave enough to smear these creams on my face? or if I take those ‘essence of kangaroo’ pills…Dare I ask, what actually is  ‘essence’, the mind boggles!
